Customer service is all about what we can do to enhance the customer experience in our store. We want to provide an experience that builds loyalty. This is a great way to differentiate ourselves from the competition. This is truly the reason why i opened the store - to provide personal service you just don’t get anywhere else.

We cannot possibly carry every product a customer desires, so we do a lot of special orders for customers. On one order, we went beyond even our own expectations.

Anthony strolled into the store one Saturday looking a bit defeated. He was looking for a Hello Kitty golf headcover for his girlfriend. I scoured my catalogs and knew i couldn’t come up with that one. I looked on Ebay and found a couple of auctions with the exact product he wanted. Even though i wanted his business, i gave him the choice - Go home and order it from Ebay or i can do it for him. He told me to do it for him. I ordered it, charged him the same amount as the Ebay auction and was delivered 10 days later straight from Japan.

I didn’t make a dime on the transaction, but hopefully scored some brownie points with the customer and hopefully he’ll come back and bring his girlfriend in to shop.

Thanks Anthony!

The weather is getting nicer and with 80 degree days approaching fast, we’re not golfing with 6 layers and handwarmers to keep us warm. Leagues are starting and a lot of women are getting nervous about the first swing of the season. What most people aren’t thinking about right now is what’s in their bag. It’s time to take inventory of your game and see where improvements can be made.

Your swing – it may not be part of your bag, but it’s your game! Go to the driving range and take a few swings with each club to work out all the kinks. Too many of those? Take a lesson to get back the basics of your setup.

Your golf bag – take inventory. I find at least $30 in change and small bills at the beginning of the season! Take everything out and see what you have or don’t have – balls, tees, markers, all the basics, and stock up or replace. Take your gloves and throw the used ones in the garbage. Stiff leather won’t keep its grip on the club - Ever. Take all your towels and wash them – keep at least 2 on your bag. As for all that spare change – buy a cute little accessory bag to store it all – you’re gonna need it to buy rounds for the hole in one you’ll get this year.

Shoes – check your spikes. If you never replaced them last year, replace them now and buy a couple extra sets of spikes. If you play a few times a week, you should be replacing those spikes monthly. If not, you’re probably getting some slippage when you swing. Can’t get the spikes out? Hot Hot water works wonders.

Stop in on Saturday, bring a friend and we’ll help you take a few strokes off your game. Free lessons, free club fitting, chat about basic rules & etiquette, and fine tune your game by bringing in your bag - we’ll help you find all that spare change.

Great day for golf last Sunday. The forecast was a little rain, a little sun, and I thought I’d take a little risk by playing from the blue tees. What would it hurt besides my ego if I constantly trailed my husband and keep the guys in back of us waiting a few times. At the tee box, after my husband hit, I walked up and teed up my ball. I glanced at the guys waiting for us to hit and heard them say “Is she going to hit from here? Why doesn’t she hit from the ladies tee box?” My husband replied “I don’t tell her where to start.” I sized up my shot, chose my target and as I addressed my ball, I thought to myself “God, please let this one go straight and long.” Slowly bringing my club back, concentrating on not breaking my wrists, I let the club follow through naturally and smacked the ball 180 yards. The guys’ reaction, “wow”. I looked at them and said…”I think I’ll like that one!” and off I went to my second shot.

At the end of the day, I added 5 strokes to my game. The additional strokes were due to not chipping very well and not the additional yards I had to carry. The longer tees forced me to use clubs I don’t use as often and eliminated others from my game. So, I used my 3 wood a lot and never used my hybrids or long irons.

The blue tees are for 16 and under handicaps, but my handicap is 25. As long as I keep pace of play, I’ll play the longer tees just to challenge myself. So, the next time you play, play from the longer tee box (even if it’s just for a couple of holes) and see the difference it makes in your game and your confidence. And….don’t let the guys playing behind you influence your tee box selection.

Welcome to Lisa’s blog. There are so many golf blogs out there, I wanted to make sure mine was different. So, I’ll not write about the do’s and don’ts of golf nor who I’m following in the PGA or LPGA. There are plenty of people out there who do great justice to those topics. I’ll write about what’s new in the store, my golf game, and interactions with my customers. To most people, golf is a game of competition between partners or with themselves. For me it’s much more than that. I’ll write about how golf inspires me and how it creates fun and balance in my life. Stay tuned…
